Good Friends

Today, we began to learn about being a good friend. We met two puppet friends, Leah and Benny. They showed us how when they want a turn for a toy, they say "please can I have a turn?" We then took turns asking Benny and Leah for a turn with their ball. We used language according to our ability. So our words varied from "please" please have" to "please can I have?"

We are also putting a big emphasis on understanding the concept of 'taking turns' while playing. We have been teaching the children to ask each other, "Please can I have ...?" or "Please have?" The other child then answers, "yes" and shares the toy, OR says "soon." Then either with morah's help and a timer, the child waits for a turn or they play with something else while waiting for a turn. We will be sending home a copy of special turn taking book that we use in school.
We would love for you to use the same language and strategies at home.
Thank you for your help ;)
